Serene and scenic Redmond, boast everything good about the great Northwest. Towering evergreen forest surround this beautiful community sitting between the majestic Cascade mountain range and sparkling Puget Sound. Just 20 miles east of downtown Seattle at the North end of Lake Sammamish, Redmond's high quality of life, good schools and a healthy economic base make it that much easier to enjoy, safe neighborhood, a variety of active and passive recreational opportunities and diverse offerings for shopping dining.
In 1963 with the completion of the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge across Lake Washington, Redmond began to florish as a suburb. Redmond became the fastest growing city in the state. High Tech companies made Redmond their headquarters and with the growth in population came the demand for more housing and retail shops.
Redmond continues to grow and develop even to this day. It has become a very affluent city with the help of Microsoft and Nitendo America.
Education
Redmond is part of the Lake Washington School District. in Redmond the public schools include nine elementary, three junior high and Redmond High School. There are also three private schools that offer secondary education: The Overlake School, Bear Creek School and the Conservatory High School.
Economics
There are a number of High Tech companies in Redmond. The largest employer by far is Microsoft Corporation witch in 1986 moved its headquarters to Redmond.
